    Replacing ecu

    Need to replace ecu on my 02 galant 4 cly.....would I be able to replace it myself or would I need to have a shop or dealership do it

    if you do it yourself, the immobilizer in your ECU won't correspond with the chip in your key, so it won't work (unless you can delete the immobilizer yourself)

    ok thanx........ One m more thing, would I be able to get one out of another galant from a salvage yard or will I have to go brand new??

    I think one from a salvage yard will work. Try to get the matching key. I'm not too familiar with the immobilizer since my car doesn't have one, so I don't know exactly what the guys are doing when they swap ECUs. I think they are just deactivating it.
