Exaust question

Ok, long story short need to take the manifold heat shield cover off my car to find out why it is leaking exaust behind it.

I have a few questions,
Do the bolts tend to snap off when trying to remove them? Cause mine are pretty rusted up.

If they do break, then is it ok to run the car with out that heat shield? Or is it a must so nothing gets burnt?

And if it can be ran with out that heat shield, is it a must to remove the engine compartment liner on the hood?

It's probably gonna be either the precat gasket or the one right after it. Ive takn the shield off plenty of times you won't break it. let it cool a little.
