    Cluster from V6 into I4 !!!

    Hi everyone....

    I've purchased a VRM v6 Cluster....
Fit it nicely in my car... all light up beautifully I've got pics too...
BUT I'm having wrong RPM reading cause I4 has different voltage...

HAS ANYONE got a clue how to correct it ???

try swapping the tachometer from the i4 gauges into the v6 frame.

    you mean the RPM unit....
hm I will give it a go... but I was looking something like changing a resistor or two to get the correct current that i4 needs I know for sure that i4 needs less from what V6 gives...

on the vrg version the front plastic cover is in clear see through
on the vrm version it's black (tinted)
also the lighting I believe it uses LED....
I'll take some photos of the back housing of the cluster so u can see if it fits on the USDM Galants.

the JDM high viz dash(vr-4, vr-m and some 2.4 Viento GDI's) are lightten up by 1 sngle 3mm CCFL bulb, they are brightness adjustable in them.i have on my blue wagon changed the white ccfl for a blue led strip, view garage for pics.
as for a V6 Dash running on a I4,NO cAN DO, it wont work so dont waste your time..
1 step better i will swap you a high viz I4 dash cluster(looks identicle to your vr-M one) for your vr-M 1,as i have a 2.l mivec v^ im going to be rebirthing in the Legnum..
please either let me know or if you know where i can get myself a vrM 1 from please
    pm me if you want

    How good r u with electronics ???
    Why I'm asking?
cause... I wanted to find a way... I striped the clusters all the way...
I removed the circuit boards on both clusters (I4 and V6)
I took notes on the boards and pointed out the differences...
I've got basic knowledge on electronics from college... so I made the modifications on the transistors... made the v6 to match the I4...
then swap the IC chip.... put it all back together...
    and guess what??? It worked...
It's easy as it sounds... It takes time and research...
    but it can been done...

but I did like the blue LED swap....
I'll consider it... As I did mod the Climate Control Unit into blue LEDs and
also I swap over the orange LEDs to red LEDs on the two buttons.

'thats cool im also entry level can you pm me what you did for that?(cluster that is)
i know with the vr4 dash if you want to run it in a N/A V6 you need to simply swap the rev counter internals over and it works fine(so i tried it this weekend and it did work, however the rev count needle did not lgiht up),but didnt think the i4 would allow such a huge mod as you need to bridge a power feed for the ccfl bulb anyhow, well i did on wifeys galant did you have to?

im realy interested in seeing how you acheived it and what you had to change aswell
