    Icon4 Overheated....

So yesterday, i returned from the airport to my "Betty White" (Because she's a golden girl" Galant. Over the weekend my dad did some basic stuff for me; breaks, filter, fluids and replaced my bottom hose as it was leaking where it connected to the engine.

Driving home, the hose popped out of the radiator.. just before I got home.. the thermometer went full red, i let the car coast to a stop on the side of the road.

After reattaching and filling with coolant again.. no go.. is she toast as I believe? I'm in denial that my options are rebuild, replace or buy a new ride. Any thoughts, advice... ANYTHING!?!?!

    probably blew the headgasket

blew the hg, or ruined the engine, all together??? Any way to tell without tearing it apart??

well, u can start by checking ur oil and coolant and see if its still clean, or if it looks like milkshake, if it does, u blew the gasket and coolant got in ur oil, and vice versa

depending on the milkshake test.. might i be able to get away with just replacing the headgasket.. or is it all needing rebuild/repair?

maybe, maybe not, there's still a chance of bent valves....when i blew mine, my car didnt run, wouldnt start, nothing, when i replaced the headgasket, i replaced the entire engine head while i was at it, didnt wanna risk anything

Pressure test your cylinders, if you blew your HG, you'll have one or more cylinders that will leak or won't pressurize.

my car overheated three days ago , no water in oil and water in radiator, cleaned the spark plugs, try n start it , she turns over but doesnt wunna start when you turn the key forward there is this lil black plug under the airintake idk what it is but it makes a weird electrical sound, when u turn it forward and when you turn the key the other way it does it, if i unplug it it wont make noise but still wont start i beleive this is what is stoping her from starting. does anyone know what this piece is called? if so help me out i miss my g-lant. heres a link to a picture of the plug im refering too http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...0611111358.jpg

thats for the idle... that wouldn't be causing it not to run, check for spark, and fuel.

AH! That might be that mysterious part everyone is talking about.

Also..Starter? If that thing is makin a sound then i'm guessing battery is delivering power..and alternator would be circulating it..but i can only assume it's not gettin a spark to start?
