6.5" . I have these in mine and it fit pretty easily. I think I remember that you want something with a flat or flush top because the speaker grille from the door doesn't give you much space.
Pretty much... the depth of the speaker (magnet and tweeters if applicable) is what makes the difference since some speakers won't fit.

6.75" is the correct sizing. (6.5" oversized) also works.
