need help in opening a 5 speed trans case

HOw do you open the case on a 5 speed. I have one that the lower shaft broke on and decided I wanted to see what the insides look like before I scrap it. I have removed every bolt, pried the cases apart 1/4" so tht they are free of each other but I can't figure out how to completely sepreate them. Any help appreciated.

I havent opened mine, but I would guess that there is a snap ring that you need to remove before they can come apart completely.

IDK...I saw them just use an impact gun on mine and pry it apart. SHould be that simple.

As I am junking this transmission I said WTF and just started prying and beating on the trans case. It finally pried apart. As best I can tell one of the rear bearings failed and seized melting itself into the trans case and snapped the gear shaft that protruded thru the bearing. The case could not just be pulled apart as the seized bearing was acting like a nut and the gear saft like a bolt. I'll post some pictures of it along with some pictures showing what is inside the 5 spd trans juts in case anyone is interested.
