i believe the 4g64 eclipses have the same iac i think 99-02.But yeah take it out and wipe it with a clean dry rag and wipe out where it sits in the throttle body and put it back in and see if it helps.

Will I need a gasket or some type of o-ring? If so then where do I get it? Stealership? Or any parts store

There is a o ring but if it is in good shape you should be able to just put it back on but you get it from a dealer i think it cost around 2 to 4 dollars somewhere around there.

Here's a list of cars that use the same IAC:

Here's a link on opening and repairing an IAC on a 3000GT, it looks the same as on the Galant, but I can't be sure.

Ok started it this morning and it idle and didn't stall all the way to work. When I first started it the idle was only@ 900rpm it used to be around 1200rpm Till it warmed up? Once warmed up the idle was@ 600rpm I think I could of made it stall if I wanted to. So thoughts please. Thanks.

Increase the air by ajusting the screw on the tb. Adjust it gradually. Also reset the pcm. Disconect the neg term of the battery for 5 min. The pcm will relearn the new readings and will adjusts itself. U most drive the car for a few miles and let it idle for 14 mins.

I wouldnt adjust the screw yet the car has to learn to idle now that the iac is working again.

Just went out at break and it has a little hard to start... Started on the second try. It idle at 550 no matter what I turned on and I put it in drive still no stall. But really low idle 500 when in drive. Maybe I should check fuel pressure? This car have a standard valve for testing?

I will, I'm at work. I cant work on it here. Thanks, but why would I need to adj. The air screw? What if it's the ica, maf then I'm just bypassing the real problem right?

I just don't want to rig it to work, like I said I don't have the high idle when motors cold, it should have the high idle.

  14. #34
yeah once u adjust the iac, u'll will be fine

If I reset the "brain" it has the good high idle, but after a few miles it loses it's mind. So it might be the brain?

No the computer should be fine,it has to relearn everything once it has been reset so it will take some time it has to learn how to idle and shift and everything.
