    GS stripes on an 8G?

Went to a vinyl shop I use for some of the many decals inbound for the Galant...decided to give some domestic flair to it. Grand Sport fender stripes, or GS stripes. Seen on Corvettes, and other GM cars...never on a Galant, or foreign car for that matter. Took some quick measurements of the driver's side fender, and got some stripes cut out. Whatcha think? They match the club banner on the windshield.

And not to be outdone, a JDM new driver flag adorns the right corner of the windshield too. Appropriate since the lady is fairly new to the car scene. lol

Haha, yeah...I didn't expect this to go with everyone's taste on here. I personally like the look, and the g/f liked my car when I had them, and on another friend's car.

I think with some more mods it might not look so bad. I don't exactly hate it. Nice work so far.

If it takes a few minutes to put it on then it will most likely takes a few minutes to take it off...

Still like your original idea of making it look your Pontiac. But if she likes it then more power to you

I think it'd look a lot better if the stripes were thicker.

and you're not the first non-American car to have these:

Wider stripes would look better imo

Looks okay, but too aggressive in the sense that her car is fairly stock otherwise. Wider stripes would look good though. If she's happy, leave em... If she aint happy... You ain't happy.

    Keep it up.

This reminds me of a car with a new windshield. The blue tape. Maybe if you put a blue 62 in the rear qtr panel.

Yeah, I was too conservative with the stripes. Gonna try 2" wide when I get the chance. Jess loves 'em though.

Maybe I should have said the only Galant with GS stripes.

    I'd go 4-5" wide.

I think they could look awesome but the car would NEED the following things to pull them off:

Lowered. Preferably on a coilover to get lower.
    Reverse Stagger. 17x8.5 with a 235/45/17 up front and 17x7.5 w/ 215/45/17 out back
-I'd look for an aggressive wheel, Volk Racing, SSR, Weds, Enkei etc.
VR4 bumper or a lip or something; side skirts

I think it could look cool at that point

    We're getting there.

I've actually been looking at TSW wheels, I've had good experiences with them before, and I like their selections. But staggered? Cool idea, but I'd like to be able to rotate the tires to get the most mileage out of them.

A 17x8 with a +38 or +40 offset was the specs I was looking at for the 8G, a run either a 225/45 or 235/45 tire all around. More than likely, it'll get either General Exclaim UHPs or Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires.

As for lowered...Jess is still undecided. I'm worried about the car itself due to her driving habits, which I'm still busy enstilling a new driving behavior for her. Coils...I dunno. I was looking at the KYB AGX/Eibach combo as a best all around deal for wheel gap elimination, handling and not too low.

I was also looking at ROH's and Enkei.

I like the simplicity of ROH's designs, and they're solid wheels. I've put 50K on my ROH Adrenalin's and no issues.

Its owned by an Indian firm, yes.

Is it Indian? No. Far from it. They're one of two english brands that still make properly english cars.
