FIXED!!:wont rev past 5500, need some help

ok i have a 89 RS(non-turbo) and it will start and idle fine, when i try to rev the engine it takes seemingly forever to get to even 5500, but oddly doesnt want to die out, now when i put it into gear(auto trans) it hesitates big time until i get going but still wont go like it used to! any ideas?? im at a loss. thanks in advance!

UPDATE: tune up did the trick!! plugs, wires, all filters etc....

sounds like your timing is off (and im not meaning just the ignition timing, but rather the cam timing).

everything was fine a few hours ago, i have tracked down one problem, behing the dist there is an electrical connector that looks like one for a fuel injector(u know what they look like!) and it connects to this item called a power module i believe it says(yes i know i need a manual, i just ordered one but wont be in till thurs or fri) anyways when i touch the wires leading to it the car stumbles or dies same thing if i move the injectors!!! any other feedback??
