whatever you do, don't get one as big as TJ had. Shit didn't fit right and made the bumper all warped because it was so big.

thanks ICed. For now i will turbo the stock motor when i finish my 5 speed swap. I have a spare head i'm going to take it to the machine shop to get it clean and change the head gasket and engine bearings before turbo. MY evo 2.5L swap is on hold for a little until i get some money so i could take the block and head to the machine shop also i need forge piston -_-.

Ron, are you sure its 3.5"????

I have a 3" and I had to substantially cut my bumper, Roman has the new style bumper like yours and im pretty sure he had to do some trimming as well and ours are only 3". 3.5 is BIGGG to fit in there.

Here is my older intercooler... core size 22x10x3, overall length 30" 2.5"inlet/outlet
Its mounted below the stock crash bar, bumper is significantly cut to fit.

same intercooler test fitting my old style jdm front. see how warped the bottom of the bumper is, thats because its hitting the intercooler...

same intercooler, painted black, just to show how it was mounted....

this pic is getting ready to install the larger intercooler. If you look at the vertical support under the hood latch, the bottom where the power steering cooler pipe bolts thru it, I cut that area out/flat, this gave me an additional 5/16" worth of clearance. I just welded the vertical support to the top of the lower radiator support.

this is the new one ready to go in. I dont have the exact specs but I think these measurements are close...core 26x12x3, overall 32" 3" inlet/outlet

close up of the cut spot...

intercooler recessed into the crash bar....

mounts to the back of the bar....

hole big enough to get a socket thru the crash bar to tighten the bolt/nut

with it all installed, there is slightly over 1/8" between the rad support and back of the intercooler.... in the pic its about 3/8" but thats because I didnt yet grind down the welds I did so it was hitting the weld. Right this moment its about 1/8" away....

    I found a few more....

after the bumper was cut.... I probably took about 3/4" off the back of the bumper. I also had to cut half moon shapes on the lower corners to clear the intercooler pipes...

Yeah man for sure double check that. Im hoping it is 3.5" because then im gonna ask you to take a bunch of pics so I can figure out WTF you did to make it fit. For me to go 3.5" I'd have to cut another half inch from the bumper or cut/custom fabricate a lower radiator support.

Its probably a 3" core and the end tank is slightly larger. Mine is kinda like that too. My end tank is lik3 3.125" but my core is 3".

Thats interesting though, I didnt think the new style front had more space than the old style. I think if I ever try to go to a 4" I will need a dolphin front.
