    Projector Fog

I have recently come across numerous sets of projectors from write offs in the pound at work.

I have a set from an 08 TL

and another from a Mazda 3, I plan on using these mazda 3 projectors as my fogs with 3k HIDs

I just dont know if fog projectors have specific differences in terms of beam pattern and what not.

    Any input?

I was just thinking about this myself
in theory, this shouldn't be that difficult, mostly mounting them up would be the primary issue
everything else, I have no idea
    good luck

I have the mounting figured out.
I have the new H7 connector part numbers and ready for order.
I have the H7 HID ready for order

What i don't have is a confirmation that i'm not about to waste my money on the parts lol.

Dedicated projector fogs like the Blazers have a flat cutoff unlike low beam or bi-xenon projectors with the stepped cutoff, but that's the only difference in beam pattern that I'm aware of.

wait, r u planning on using a low beam projector as a fog light? fog lights have a much different throw width as compared to low beams... fog lights have a much wider pattern side to side, but do not throw light as far (center intensity is much lower); this is what makes fog lights terrible as low beams (and vice versa). now if these are fog projectors and you are going to use them on your car as fogs, it should work just fine.

Mazda 3 no projector fogs. They are low beams.

BTW I'm glad you cleared that up, I was thinking about doing something similar.

Like G$ Greg said get the blazers. They are designed for fog use.

What I would lo e to do one day is get 2 pairs of bixenon projectors and fit them side by side in each housing, do away with the lower fogs and just have all four as low beam and for high beams have all four open up.
Of course aimed properly to avoid glare.

Blazers are so small though ! they are nice though being sealed and all, go over to HID planet and look around there, there are always things popping up like Ford Fusion fogs for sale etc..but IMO you should get some wheels first

if you lose your fogs, the light that the fogs throw to the sides would also be decreased since the low beams would essentially just brighten each other in coverage. maybe you could aim the outside pair outward?

^^exactly what I would do the inner will be straightforward while the outers aimed to the sides. Just an idea...for now

Member gold94corolla on HIDPlanet had quad projectors once aimed out, here are some of his output shots:

This dude's output made me consider doing the retrofit, which I am doing once my backpay comes in.

    So want!

So although a lot of you guys mentioned how my retrofit idea wasn't practical in terms of output, I went ahead an did it anyway... lol

Just because I live in the city, I dont need fogs in toronto. and the projecture assembly would keep me busy for a few, and just looks nice.

Used a baking lamp to soften up the head lamp of the mazda 3

This is the bracket it chopped up for the retro fit

    Old assembly

    New Assembly

Installed with mazda shroud. lol perfect fit!

To begin with... The light output is actually better than with the reflectors in my opinion. Using H7 phillips. Soon 35w 3k HIDs lol.

wait, since u took the projector out of a waterproof headlight, is the projector itself waterproof? what's gonna happen when it rains?
