Got a lil gadget today for free....

A buddy of mine gave me one of these today, he had it shoved in his TB on his big v8 expedition. He took off his air filter and had me cover the hose with my hand with it off/installed and it definitely felt like it was sucking harder installed.

Not sure if I trust it tho, so heres the gadget:

anyone know about this thing? would it do me any good to use?

Just from a physics standpoint it isn't driven which means it is spun by the passing air creating turbulance so I doubt its abilities. But I am curios to see a dynos opinion.

Air disturbance like this is actually bad. Why do you think CAI pipes are smooth? Look at port and polished heads and intake bits, smooth for maximum airflow efficency...so why would you want to do the opposite? lol

    It's a gimmick.

just mount a hair dryer to your air box hook it up to a switch in the cabin, and make sure its on "cold" settings...that will give you more results ^^

Here's what's up dude none of these guys have tried it. No offense to anyone. Just take two minutes to slap that thing in see what it does. I wouldn't bet on anything but you never know.

Its a gimmick product...all its going to do is restrict air flow.

If the concept of this product was accepted by any professional motorsports means, then it would have some credibility...but it doesn't.

It is true that I have not used this product., speaking in the terms of physics, the concept of this product is either.

Diffusivity turbulence which highly associated with rapid mixing. The characteristic which is responsible for the enhanced mixing and increased rates of mass, momentum and energy transports in a flow. But since we not mixing anything exceptional in the intake this concept would work.

Or rotationality turbulence are essentially vortices subjected to stretching associated with a corresponding increase of the component of vorticity in the stretching direction down the intake pipe. As a result, the radial length scale of the vortices decreases and the larger flow structures break down into smaller structures as is in rotational. Where the item starts the vorticies air flow to the throttle body would not do anything since the butterfly valve would cancel the rotational air flow.

So this item is definently misleaded or prey on those who are ignorant (not direct towards anyone here). A similar product are speed chips or gas chips. I am glad that the OP asked whereas most people would just do it without regrads.
