A tune isn't needed for just the head swap but since u swapped the ecu and injectors then u needed it. Right ??

You need the tune. Because the compression ratio is going to change. And is a different head diferent bore different deck.
hmmm i didnt know a tune is required

well.. If you want to get technical, a tune is required for any air or fuel changes. Example:
Adding a cold air or short ram intake = tune
Adding a muffler, axle back, or catback = tune
Port and polishing heads = tune
Bigger injectors = tune
So yea, anything changing fuel and airflow SHOULD be tuned.

you dont need a tune to get it running... but like keith said you should tune it or else you wont see the maximum gains.
is there something specific you are looking for spdracr?
1. basically if you are using an evo head you have to use the evo waterneck, thermostat housing. same for sonata use the sonata parts.
2.headgasket use the stock multi layer steel one.
3.use the 94 galant gs timing belt.
4.you have to use both evo timing covers but there will be a gap between the upper and lower.
5. cam gears are not needed with the galant belt but they are cheap and you have it apart so why not?
6.you have the use the evo reluctor for either head. goes on exhaust cam
7. you can use either intake manifold i suggest the evo because you wont be able to fit a strut bar with the sonata manifold.
8. if you use the sonata head i suggest taping the oil feed hole like the evo has while it is off the car and then plug it if you dont need it right away.
9. if you use the evo intake manifold and throttle body get the evo throttle cable and save yourself the headache of trying to use the stock cable.
i might think of more later or ask questions if you need some thing or want to see pictures of specific stuff

Ok here are the parts I have so far.
Sonata head, water neck, throttle cable, cam gears, thermostat housing, I have evo and sonata intake manifolds.
Can I work with the sonata throttle cable ??
Can I use the stock sonata cam gears with the Galant gs tbelt ??
Do I need a sonata head Gasket ??
Do I need the evo reluctor ?? Cuz I believe I have the sonata reluctor.
I would like to tackle this but I wanna make I have everything before I find out I'm missing something lol.

as for the throttle cable im not sure i never tried the sonata one. (got any Pictures?)
no you dont need the sonata head gasket... use the oem 4g64 gasket
no on the sonata cam gears and you have to use the evo reluctor and bolt. order for dealership or mitsubishiparts.net its like $25 for both.
here is why you cant use the sonata or galant stuff
evo - galant - sonata

Brandon I saw above you said you dont need the adjustable cam gears. How would you time the engine correctly without them? I mean in theory you could just eye ball the cam position when you set the belt tension but I dont think you would be able to achieve proper belt tension between the two cams by doing it this way. I know that there is a good amount of room for error, I recall measuring my setup before we put the head on and I recall having about 12 degrees worth of room before I would have piston to valve contact, this is also because I have wiseco's with deep valve reliefs as well.

^^ yeah. Even if you get the right belt from the 94 GS galant you need at least 1 adjustable cam gear. If you get both even better, is good to have. I did a lot of reasearch on evon and help from Stewi for my evo swap.
You guys can't use the 94 GS cam gears by just switching them so the timing marks line up on your car? Like put the intake gear on ur exhaust gear and our exhaust on your intake. That way the dowel pins will be straight up and marks pointed at each other.

Chris I never tried that. The issue is our timing marks arent on the head, they are on the valve cover. So you match the groove in the gear with the valve cover groove
