Ive seen it once done to a truck, but i wasnt into turbo power back then. Anyway, why complicating the shit. How you gonna run the oil return to the oil pan? The line slope will not be steep at all. Factory setup is the way to go
God created turbo lag to give the v8's a brief moment of hope.

because my friends are actually willing to help me with this one. since it's not seen very much(around here in Iowa that i've seen) and it's different. i know my car will never be in the "fast" category. i just want it to have something different to it. not looking to make huge power with this at all.

It can be done, but it's gonna be harder than a normal setup, and more costly too. I saw this Lexus IS-F at the car show a while back, he had that setup:

They guy told me the bay is too cramped to run the dual turbo setup he wanted to run, that's why he did it this way. He said he had near 100' of custom piping under there IIRC. Our bay has the room, so it's simpler to just run the standard setup, but either way I'd love to see someone do it on a G!

If oil isn't drained properly, then it goes through the seals, spitting oil out your exhaust or worse to the intake which first hits the intercooler. Yikes. Seen it happen first hand at my buddies shop, His return line was slightly kinked and caused both seals to go, Guy had a cheap turbo anyway.

Typically the oil drains on the STS style systems are very very effective. It uses an inline electric oil pump to feed the oil back into the pan. In theory it sorta works line an inline booster fuel pump, the oil pump on the engine feeds the oil to the turbo so it stays pressurized, leaving the turbo its sucked out by the inline pump and fed back to the pan. When using a system like this its important to remember to add additional oil to your system to account for the length of oil feed/return under the car. If its mounted all the way in the back, you could need as much as a full quart of extra oil in the system for it to work properly and not starve the engine of oil.

i appreciate all the info guys. me and my father in law were looking at STS online. i want to do it even more since no G (that i know of) has a setup like this. i hope this doesn't fall through like usual. one question... i live in iowa and lowered on megan springs. could that cause problems in heavy rain and snow?

Honestly the ONLY benefit is to say you were the first to do it, you will make less power, and spend more money doing this set-up

Bro you dont want to complicate this on your Galant. Your friend can still help you if you just have it off the turbo manifold...itll be less stress and faster to get it done...not sure if its going to be cheaper but from what Iv seen its alil more expensive bc of extra parts you gatta run for the oil lines like the electric oil pump. They go up to $400.00 + bucks, but its all up to you if you really wanna go for this but in my opinion...dont bother.

does anyone know if having this turbo setup would be a bad choice based on iowa weather?

Not to mention about 14 extra feet of intercooler piping.
