    DDM HID metal thing

I just installed my HID's from DDM and they are amazing, but I am wondering if that metal shield thing is supposed to be removed. I didnt remove it because It didnt feel like it wanted to come out when I wiggled it around. I searched but didnt find anything.

its installed already, its not a whole metal casing...its a small strip that is under the light, it goes the length of the light but it does not even go half way around the light itself. IDK ill try to take a picture

well when i got my set i though the same thig.. so i flipped them over and checked what would happen if those werent there... well it turns out.. those are ctually reflectors to keep you lights from shinnig all over the place. it block of cerain part of the beam...

but its on the bottom? is that still ok? beam pattern and light output is very good so I am not too concerned.

yes its on the bottom so the light doesnt scatter, it acts in a sense like a focus, even though in a reflector housing there will be plenty of scatter regardless it somewhat helps it

I took miy shield out >.<
I havent turned them on at night yet but I felt the shield cut the light pattern off too much

Try a search for glare shield...I believe that's their purpose. I don't have ddm, but the bulbs from one of my kits had em.
