    3.8L Avenger

    Hey all,

I'm almost done my 3.8L swap in my 1998 Avenger with a a543 5-speed manual transmission and I've got a question for you tech gurus.

When KEY ON the C.O.P get extremely hot after a minute or 2.

Will someone please turn their car to KEY ON, unplug one of the C.O.P connectors and tell me what the voltage reading is? I suspect that them receiving 12.4 volts is what is doing this and I need to confirm what the voltage needs to be. I remember somewhere that it might be 5 volts.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    Here's the car right now:

Your coil packs are over heating while the car is running? That happened to me it ended up being a broken ground so i made another one.

    Great job btw.

Only sonata f5m42 swapped. N/A build in motion.

Good work!! I'd be outside checking for you if I had a COP setup, sorry. Looks great though!

We're not ignoring your request bro, Just the majority of the site are 8G's and 7G and we don't have COP. Though if the coil is getting hot it could either be bad or missing ground or an issue within the coil. Grab an ohmmeter and check the resistance on the coils they should be the same for all six you just need to find the spec on them.

The A543 should bolt on to a 6g73 2.5 then?
