    Stock 7g Track Times

Hey guys, I went to Moroso tonight, and ran the galant. I only got two runs in because we got there late and there were tons of cars. The weather was about 80° and humid and its not that high above sea level...its south florida.

    Here are the results:

    R/T...1.134
    60'...3.003
    330...7.933
    1/8...11.945
    mph...60.91
    1000...15.422
    1/4...18.363
    mph...76.50

That will give people an estimate to what a stock 7g auto galant will run. Now my R/t was high, so the the g probably runs high 17s. I am not even going to bother with any engine mods, to me its pointless, unless I can afford a new engine. The fastest my car will ever go....is out of my hands...i was dissapointed with the results.

Second run was 19.454, the problem was, I hit it into neutral by accident at about 50 mph, and after that, I was screwed.

So that was the night....:pukey:

I was running 17.3 w/ my engine pretty stock(all I had was an intake and exhaust) Now she's pretty sick, so I'm going to run'er thru the winter, and give her some new life in the spring (4G63T)

And reaction times don't have any effect on 1/4mi times. If you ever try running again, you can improve your R/T if you stomp on it just as the last amber turns on. Make sure you shallow stage(pull in juuuust enough to tickle the 2nd stage light) I get constant .6XX for my R/T's on a sportsman tree. Hopefully I'll see a pro tree someday...

EDIT: Also, don't "power shift." If you do the ECU Reset(Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes, then drive as hard as you can for a bit) It'll shift it right @ 6K RPMs. The computer can do it better, and more consistanly than "power shifting."

I noticed that powershift does nothing, i did it the second run and thats when I hit it into nuetral. I kinda figured the car would be high 17s low 18s. The first run, I ran next to a 1g eclipse non turbo. He had some problems and ran a 21.xxx, but he comes up to me and says "did u have a problem too?" I said "no I just have a slow car " He slipped gears or something and thats why he did so bad.

17.2 was my best on a 95 degree night at the track. 18 wheels also don't help in the 1/4.

first night out, I ran a 16.8 in the galant

    after intake.. solid 16.2

    after Exhaust.. 16.0

never bothered to go faster than that with the ol' '64

Damn... the race for the fastest U.S. 7G's gonna be tougher than I thought

Did they make you go get a roll cage when you got that 12s 1/4mi time?

r u guys running with all your speakers and seats and shit in your car? i know it's something like every hundred pounds you loose is like 1/10th of a second off. does anyone know where all the stock weights are in the galant? a friend of mine has a mustang and he took out almost 200lbs of weights in the car that were put there in the factory. like near the steering wheel and under the seats and crap like that. but whatever. keep running those 7g's strong because one day i will have the fastest damn galant in the world. don't know how but i will......

  17. #17
Fastest galant ever is a 6g that did a 10 something I believe, and I'm sure there's a jap that has gone even faster that we don't know about.

I believe that stock 7g weighs 3600 lbs. Which sounds about right since we have more doors, windows, and other parts. Mine being leather, adds some more weight.

A full gas tank adds over 200 lbs, so make sure you're not racing full.

Next time I race, I hope to drop from the 17.2 down in the low 15's. We'll see.

  18. #18
um, my stock 7g weighs 2755lbs, so i dunno what u talking about jess, thats waht it says in my door

  19. #19
really, I could have sworn somebody verified the 7g was 3600. Maybe that was a galant wagon uk or something. I'm gonna read my door later and see what it says, but it must be about the same as yours.

I had my car weighed @ RT 66, and w/ 1/4 tank and my fatass in it, it said 3201 w/o spare, jack, and cardboard cover thing.

    I'm about 200lbs
