    New member!

To start off im glad that i found a website that loves the brand Mitsubishi

    as much i do.

To begin with i recently purchased a Mitsubishi Galant 2004 es with

79000 miles on it for $4500.

    here is a pic.

where to begin well first problems are my car shakes when i turn on the a/c

any ideas what could be the problem im guessing it could be the ac

    compressor.

my serpentine belt is bad maybe cause of a pully it sounds like the

    power steering pump.

ive been looking everywhere for just the pully it self but they dont sell it

by it self i have to buy the a/c compressor and power steering

cant i just replace the pully it self on the steering and a/c compressor

dont want to buy a new a/c compressor and a new power steering pump

but if i have to i will.

is it possible to go the junk yard and pull a a/c compressor from a other type

of model cant really find a 2004 model at the junkyard.

and last but not least my srs light is on is there any way i can reset it by not

    going to the dealership.

    long live Mitsubishi

update: i went outside and went to go look at the a/c compressor pully and it only had five ridges and the serpentine belt has 6 ridges how is that even possible

    Welcome to TGC!

    Some help with your issues:

The pulleys could cause a vibration if the bearings inside them are shot. As for the A/C Compressor, it's possible that the pulley on that is bad, they are replaceable. You may have to go directly through Mitsubishi or an online source for the A/C pulley.

The power steering pump's pulley is also replaceable. How is the fluid inside of the power steering pump's reservoir? Dirty? Low?

The belt is definitely wrong, sounds like the previous owner length matched a serpentine belt and never bothered to find the proper width belt.

    Thanks everyone!..

so after looking at it more its definitively the a/c pulley because

it has only 4 ridges (sorry for putting 5 that was a mistake) and

the rest of the pulleys has 5 ridges for a serpentine belt that has six

ridges so i definitively have to replace that its wearing out the belt

    so fast.

how do i tell if my ac compressor is bad?

    i still get cold air.

The pulley has bearings, and if they're bad, it'll vibrate or make noise.

Two things to reset the SES light:

*Find a code reader, pull the troublecodes, and manually reset the light.

*Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, then reconnect.

I'd recommend pulling the codes, there's a reason why it's on.

SRS light or SES light? SRS = Supplemental Restraint System (airbags) and SES = Service Engine Soon (OBDII Diagnostics). for SRS, that might require a trip to the dealer unless you know someone with a serious scantool that can read SRS DTC's.
