I have mine wire to my amp for power, and my deck set to where it will stay on till I push a button on the deck to turn it off.

    I have a pioneer avh-p4900dvd
When I want to turn off the rear camera I push v.adj

    Hope this helps

This is confusing, I get what you do to get it to work but to the lay person too much involved.

Smash: you have it wired correctly, that is how it should be wired. Check all your connections for something loose or pinched.

if your useing the remote wire you need to run a relay or it well put stress on your headunit and it well prematurely fail

It's always worked fine because the camera is always on. And yes it will stress the decks remote signal. If you are happy with this method use the red wire that triggers the radio on for a safer connection.

With these cars who needs a back-up cam. I have one in my 04 Tahoe, it has 5% over factory tint so at night I can't see anything. the HID's in the back help out alot in seeing with my non IR Cam.

I wanted to use the feature on the deck so I picked up an ebay rear cam for 15$ works great just I don't look at the screen to back up, I was thinking of putting a dvr system or carputer to record and lost intrist in it before I started, so the new plan is the install a newer amp remove the backup camera replace the deck and sub, all that equipment is like 10yr when I had my first car, only thing new stereo wise is new front speaker lol and that was done last yr.
