What are the things I need to worry about when replacing my lowering springs with the following
My car: Galant 2000 ES V6
Wheel: 16 inch rims
Springs : H&R
Struts: Mitsubishi Stock
the stock struts.
^^^ agree mine were so stuck that the guy had to use pliers to hold the struts to be able to undo the nut. hence it messed up the struts with the plier marks.

Do you recommended aftermarket struts that i can use with H&R sport springs? Would I still be able to ride with stock struts?
KYB AGX's will work good. They have adjustable dampening settings, too.

Are Monroe performance struts still good for the price and availability?
Monroe is junk. Go with KYB's.

KYB Agx Is the option that will last longest (not to be mistaken with lasting forever).
With HR springs I can see any Monroe shocks blowing quick. Perhaps you may consider a more moderate drop like Tein or Eibach, then you can go with a less expensive GR-2 strut.
worry about camber and the end of tires if you dont have camber kits
Why can't i find KYB Agx shock/struts for a 2000 Galant? I only could find for 1992,94,99's models...should i be searching for Eclipse model?
Look for a 3rd gen Eclipse, 00-05, same suspension.

Do coilovers last longer than springs? Because I'd like springs since they're cheaper with shocks, and I really don't have/don't want to pay that much for coilovers. My friend who's a mechanic in training is bent on getting coilovers and I know cheap ones are well...cheap so does anyone know which is better?

IMO: lowering springs are your best bet with a daily driver, as far as comfort and everyday use goes.
The life of coilovers or struts like the KYB AGX's depends on your own driving habits, and the roads you drive on.
The springs can last as long as the car, the struts won't.

i Agree as well I've had my 2000 galant on the same set of AGX with eibachs since 2003 going almost 10 years on this set BUT that was my only choice at the time and i have these set at the stiffest setting possible. If Megans or Tein where available back in those days i would of opted for coilovers. Once you go lower you end up feeling like i can go a little lower to set up my stance how i would want it.
You have to look at the numbers when you add up the cost of AGX plus the springs you can end up getting some megans for just a little more. If you go with a little more cash for Tien those can be rebuilt.
The lower you go the more you will need to replace and thats the price to play.
it will come down to how much you want to lower. -1.0", springs (and possibly gr2); -1.0"-2.0", springs and agx; -2.0"+ full coilovers or airbags. i don't recommend lowering past 2.0" on springs with stock length dampers as they will blow sooner than later (stock, gr2, and agx are all full length dampers). full coilovers come w/ shortened dampers designed to retain full travel even if lowered deep.
