8G window trim? 8G model differences?

Greg just noticed something, but may be hard to tell on the pics...

Your car only has chrome between the windows and door and not above the door windows?

I want that!! I want no chrome.

Its a GTZ thing. Those top chrome trims do come off though.

You can remove the chrome strip like stated above and I have an es with the chrome strips so it isn't a gtz thing.

The DE was the trim level that didn't have the Crome, the top crime pulls right off the bottom however requires DE trims

Its not? Then please inform me which other models came like that from the factory.

That would be like color matching a grille and saying its not a gtz thing.

The gtz was the only submodel from the factory to have chrome bottom with black upper.
    The de had all black.
The es had chrome top and bottom, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned the upper section was removable.

Wait I must have miss read your statement. I though you said only gtz had the chrome upper strip. Didn't think you were talking about the lack of the strip on the gtz model. Never really paid attention to it since I though models without it were the de models. Didn't know gtz also didn't come with the chrome strip. Also like I stated someone mentioned already that it could be removed. I didn't look at who posted it I just said it was stated already incase it wasn't seen on an earlier post.

correct. in addition to the above, for '99-'01 USDM 8G's:

DE has raw black mirrors, raw black door moldings, raw black grill and raw black trunk garnish, external mast antenna

ES has color keyed door moldings, chrome grill, chrome trunk garnish.

LS has color keyed lower door cladding, chrome grill, chrome trunk garnish.

GTZ has color keyed lower door cladding, color keyed grill, color keyed trunk garnish.

so quickest way to spot a DE is mast antenna, black grill/trunk trim. quickest way to spot a ES is chrome grill/chrome trunk trim. quickest way to spot LS is door cladding w/ chrome grill/trunk trim. quickest way to spot a GTZ is color keyed grill/trunk trim... the spoiler was optional on all trims except GTZ which it was standard.

    other interesting differences:

DE is the only model w/o a fold down pass through in the rear seat (DE has solid seat). only LS and GTZ have factory leather. GTZ is the only model that had factory white face gauges. DE is i4 only, LS and GTZ are v6 only (LS was offered in i4 starting '02). all v6's came with 16" wheels (and dual piston front calipers in 1999).

Do Want!! One more off topic question, How hard is it to remove the lower chrome part on the door, I spotted a DE a a yard once and tried removing it from an ES to test first and ended up breaking it, never took the DE trim....

They got you straight on it Vic? Reelax knows Galants like the back of his hand! Even I didn't know about the LS having the same cladding as the GTZ, although I did know they offered the LS in 4-cyl form starting in 2002.

yeah i split this off the 17" wheel thread (since it had nothing to do with 17" wheels, but is thread worthy) and you were the first to go off that topic so you get to be the thread starter/OP of this one. haha.

    ^ Works for me, Lol!

Also, I asked this in a post earlier, how does one remove the lower (thicker) chrome part? Any tips on technique or tools? I would like to snatch this from a DE at a yard but of course I don't wanna damage it.
