    OBDII scanner recommendation

I need one. Dunno why I haven't bought one all these years. Check engine light came on today and it pissed me off. So I need a scanner

Something that doesn't break the pocket but also not a POS that's gonna break in a month.

I personally use the Ultragauge, but that is a bit steep in the price. I've heard some good stories about the bluetooth ones that sync with your iphone/android smart phones, might want to check them out too, they are not too expensive either.

I paid ~$200 for my Actron, it's a couple years old now, does live data and freeze data:

    No complaints.

I have an Actron like Greg's, it's ok. I really like my buddies Mac TaskConnect ET1205AN.
It has LIVE Data which allows the user to view vehicle sensor, switch and relay inputs in real time, while the engine is running also you get live vehicle speed directly from ECU, RPM and coolant temp, So far those are the only features I have found most useful.

+1 on EvoScan. I work with the Mitsubishi scan tools, both MUT-II & MUT-III and EvoScan matches both for the capabilities with some programming features only the MUT tools can do.

For basic diag/scan tool features (and I use "basic" lightly), EvoScan will give you DTCs, Clear them, Actuators and stream live data and save the logs so you can review them.

This is what I use. Equus 3030. It's not the best OBDII scanner out there but it gets the job done.
Cost around $53 (online) to $79 (store retail).
