    TB options

V6 is an option I know that. I also know evo TB could also be used. I remember reading that the sonata TB is almost identical to the evo and most likely cheaper since its easily sourced at the junkyard.

Can someone confirm that before I go and buy it??

Also what sensors are needed and how are things hooked up??

    Discuss.

6g74 throttle body is a good choice. its just like the 6g72 throttle body except it is 3mm larger. the only difference when installing is that you need the iac pigtail from the diamante when you get that throttle body because the connector is different. the colors of the wires are different, but the pinout is the same.

    What years diamante??

And is the 6g74 a better option than the sonata and the evo TBs??

98-01ish. That's your safest bet for finding one without traction control.

as far as comparing it to the others, I'm not sure since I've only compared the different v6 tb's side by side.

They go up to 04, but the newer ones have a different throttle body. I'll see if I can find a pic of one.

Couldn't find a picture, but I found a post Justin made to give a simple rundown of the Diamante tb's.

He says in his summary that a 6g74 manifold should be used or a spacer to give the TB a sealing surface?? Is he wrong??

No, he is right, it will cause a vac leak if you don't use the 6g74 throttle body or a spacer

edit: it was explained in one of the club3g threads with pics

Since when does the 74TB need a spacer to be installed? Or is that only for the V6 guys?

From Club3G: After the install the engine would not idle properly, but ran normal at higher RPM’s. I picked up a hand vacuum gauge and discovered there was a slight vacuum (3Hg) at the EGR valve on idle (should be none). This was opening the EGR valve at idle and causing the rough idle. If I disconnected the EGR hose, the engine ran normal. I tested all the valves and lines, everything was ok. Then I pulled the throttle body and found the problem. The VRX plenum will bolt up to your stock throttle body just fine. However, the throat is much larger. The stock TB has some vacuum passage ways that need to be sealed. The VRX plenum did not cover the gasket enough to make the proper seal. Here is what I did to fix. I found a machine shop with a band saw and cut the ½” lip off my original intake manifold opening. I used this as a spacer. Drilled the holes out and cleaned it up. This bolted between the TB and intake manifold (using two gaskets). It sealed the passage ways and bolted up just fine (needed to buy longer TB bolts). Vacuum fixed and EGR is working normally.

Still didn't answer my question. Did everyone who used the 74 TB on a 64 engine used a spacer??

I've seen this issue once before on a Diamante plenum I installed onto a friend's 3G, where he used the 72 tb. It's because the wrong tb gasket was used. I can't remember which one was needed though. It was either the 74 or 72 gasket, but one would cause the egr open at idle, and the other would correct the problem. My memory is kicking my ass right now.

I did the 6g74 tb swap recently but I don't know any info on the tb like year or trim, i bought it from a member and had to wire in IAC pigtail. My tb is different and doesn't have the ports of the one on the pic above so I didn't need to use any spacers, I'm not sure mine is sealing perfectly but I'm not throwing any codes:
