    Rewiring Harness for O2 Sensor

I've been having O2 sensor issues for the last year or so and couldn't figure out what the problem was. It turns out that I don't have a stock exhaust manifold so there is no hole for the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor. I can go to the junk yard and pick one up for $20, however there doesn't seem to be a wire running from my harness to that area. I know this car had the entire engine replaced with a junkyard one, but I didn't know it before I bought the car 3 years ago. Is there any way to splice in an O2 sensor into the wiring harness after I replace the header?

    Edit: It's a 2000 Galant ES 4cyl 4g64.

I dont see why not. Just make sure your wires match from engine to sensor. The connectors will be at Autoparts store and the wire stripper/crimper. If you never done this before, it is real easy! Just get you some spare connector and wire and have at. It is pretty much straight forward. And Only thing I can think of, is the gauge of wire to use which I dont know. But I do know that some O2 sensor have to be spliced if I recall correctly. Bosch sensors or something.

If i remember that wire harness would be coming from the area of the T-stat. Probably ties into the wire loom/harness right below the cam sensor around the ECT sensor.

You may want to check your harness first, to get an idea of what you would have to do to fix it and disconnect the battery while working on the wiring then after you fix the wiring, fix the manifold. Thats what I would do if it were me.

Here is two photos, the wire loom in the red, is it missing?

Yes it is missing. All the cars at the pull a part place have the same manifold as me. I'm thinking maybe my O2 sensor is under the cat heat shield?

It's going to be under the car. You have a fed sec car, look past the oil pan and you should see 2. Yours would run into the tunnel under the carpet by the gas pedal.
