When the tranny suposes to shift into Overdrive goes into Neutral!!!

hi, first of all! sorry for my bad english, im from argentina! got a 7G Galant 93 AT, my problem starts with an oil leak, then i sent my car to an "specialist" that cost me $10.000.- like U$s3000.- then my car goes into Limp Mode, only 3rd gear! the "specialist" said that the problem was the solenoids, so he changed it, cost another U$s 500.- now the car when shift into OD goes into neutral! i really need help! this is killing me and i have no more money to spend! thanks! and again, sorry for my bad english!!!

I would have just swapped another auto in. Wish I knew more about the auto's to point you in the right direction.

It seems like electrical problem - the OD solenoid doesnt get power or something. If he changed the entire solenoid assembly with used one then that used one might have had a bad solenoid. Usually the OD clutches go bad and the trans jerks back and forth between 3rd and OD.

thanks for the answer, rare thing is before he tried to repair it the first time when was just an oil leak, the tranny was working like a champ, but now he's telling me that the 4th is burned! i really dont know what to believe! tonight i will get the tcu codes using this tutorial: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/tcucodes.htm

UPDATE: no codes for the trouble, but, i went to another speciallist and check al the discs of the 4th, and is all good, just a little problem, something like a rubber ring is broken, and another problem is that kit is not available in my country!!! im fuck up!!! whell, i will let u know hos this nightmare ends! i'll try to find a subkit for the KM175 but is really hard in here!

As long as you have a crdit card consider using Rockauto. They had a number of trans rebuild parts. http://www.rockauto.com I am sure others can recommend other online parts place they use.

it was the ring rubber into the 4th! like a big o'ring (i dont know its name jeje), so i bought an Overhaul Kit U$s65.- and nothing more! the old one was broken, i thing its burned!

Just to add, remember to use Diamond SP-III ATF for your transmission, if you want it to last longer.
