2004 Galant GTS Defrost not blowing. Air is going into dash and floor.

This is kinda weird. On defrost the blower is blowing air but it sounds like the air is being blown into the dashboard. Most of the air is being blown through the floor vents. With the temp control on heat, air will not blow through the dash vents on any setting. If you turn on the A/C and set it to MAX everything works perfectly. If you leave the A/C on and rotate the temp to warm it starts blowing air into the dash and floor vents. Any idea what's up?

Ok, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this, but in the 8g, when you turn the blower control to defrost, it blows air to the windshield (might seem like the dash board), but this is normal as far as I know, as that's what "defrost" is supposed to do. I know the climate control controller is different in the 9g (2004), but I always thought that defrost blows air to the windshield and does not blow air through the front vents. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
