I did a lot of reading on this in preparation for helping my brother out with a 3g ecu in his GS. From what I've read on the 3g Forums, it Must be from a I4 Manual 3g Eclipse. Also to avoid earlier models if possible 01's I think.
Not all black box ecus from dsm's work either from what I've read on Dsm sites. Luckily the one I have was from a 99gsx and is running fine with ceddy mods flashed to it. I've found a remote tuner thats big over on the evo forums to street tune it.

Out of curiosity, and to confirm is the wiring upgrade to a 3g ecu the same as to an evo ecu?

Anybody willing to make plug n play adapters? I have a GS and want to use a flashable ecu but I don't want to cut my stock harness.

Hey guys I just came across this thread and was wondering if this would work in my 8g with the wiring harness and ecu from a 3g manual eclipse. I would think so because they share the same motor so the harnesses should be the same in both cars

I believe only the later 3g manual ecus are pin compatible to the Evo8 ecu. And there are differences in the harnesses along the years for both Galant and 3g. You should explore the Big Maps option first before you go swapping ecus.
