    2.4 starting problem

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the forum, got my galant a couple weeks ago. It's been running with a sporadic idle so I changed the iac and tps yesterday. It ran much better all night. Today I went to leave and the car won't start. It cranks and acts like it wants to start but won't. I went back to the old iac and tps just to see and nothing changes. I've changed the plugs, they seem to be getting fuel because I can pull them out and smell the gas, I've verified all 4 connectors are getting spark from the coil packs as well and am kind of at a loss. I pulled the back seat out and can feel the fuel pump moving when the car is cranking but I don't actuwll hear it when turning the key to the on position. But since the plugs are getting gas I figured the pump might be okay? The only other thing I can think o is maybe the fuel filter i clogged? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to TGC!

Do you have any check engine lights? if so what are your codes? FYI, on these cars, the pump doesn't prime in key on position, only when cranking. My first guess is your intake manifold has cracked, a common issue that'll cause a sudden no-start when all else seems to be fine. A vacuum leak code will usually be present if so. Hope this helps some!

Thanks for the reply man! I checked and no codes present. I could feel the pump move when cranking so I'm thinking that's okay. I also checked vacuum lines throughout the car as well.

Check your intake manifold right at the flange that connects to the throttle body. The weld there breaks over time and introduces a huge post-TB vacuum leak that might cause a no-start.

I don't see any breaks. I even just tried putting some starting fluid down one of the spark plug tubes and made no change.

Well I've also tried replacing the crankshaft position sensor and coil packs and the car still won't start, just cranks. I'm at a loss.
