    6G7X USDM ecu questions

hey mates (keep in mind im from australia, so not entirely knowledgable with what you blokes were offered over there),
if this has been covered before please point me in the right direction, but ill ask my questions anywho

did your 6g74 powered cars come with a manual trans? (eclipse? were galants only 3.0L? anything else?)

what ecu do you guys run in your 6G74/75 converted cars (both manual and auto variants)?

do these ECU's have factory immobilizers (eg: do keyswap when swapping ecus?)?
    are they plastic cased ecu's/flashable?

The 2000-2005 Eclipse came with a manual transmission (and of course a manual ECU). The 1999-2003 Galant never OFFICIALLY came with a manual, though I hear that there were 4 built or something. Who knows what they used as far as ECU goes though.

6G74/75 conversions: Some of us use our stock ECUs (I am 1999 6G74 + manual swapped.) The 1999 Galant 6G72/Automatic ECU can be flashed/written to and also doesn't give any problems when doing the manual transmission swap. Other years have certain restrictions/problems. I am fairly certain M-Rod (6G75 +manual swapped) is also a 1999. The 1999 ECU does not have any immobilizer. I believe (but am not totally sure) that the 2000 has some problems. It has been a few years since I've really thought about all this stuff.

The 1999-2003 USDM Galants only came with the 3.0L V6 (6G72) or the 2.4L I4 (4G64). 2004+ had the option of the 3.8L V6 (6G75), and I can't recall what the 4 cylinder version was.

I don't know exactly what you're doing, but I am going to guess that you will want a 1999 Galant V6 ECU.

Do you have a AUTO or manual G? Are you keeping the AUTO or going manual? If you dont to swap to a Manual ECU. Use the v6 99-early 00 PCM. This dont have immb or speed sensor for CEL. ALL you need to do is tune the pcm for new injectors, fuel and timing.
