Head is at a stop now. Upon further inspection found the valve guides are ruined/cracked/broken. I dont like it. So waitin on machined shop on monday to get a quote and see how much to replace. I think we should get another head.

Who rebuilt the head and didn't notice cracked guides?? I would reconsider changing builders at this point.

We dont know. We took the head from junk yard A u pull u pay. And pick this one cuz i was rebuilt and when removed valve cover was super clean and could tell is was in a machined shop. But i guess look could be deceiving.... (im sure i miss spelled).

So should we get send out and replace valve guides or just go get another one. we can go to yard and i can pull another one for 60 bucks. :) i still have all new parts to change. Plus old head have new valves.

Go get another one. The nicks in the chamber cause hotspots which can cause tune issues and weakens the head. Also those valve seats are fucked.

You could just ask us here about the cam gears.

No you can't use stock cam gears. The tooth count is different so lining up the stock cam gears properly won't work. U need adjustable. U can probably get away with just one adjustable cam gear but I'd just do a set.

Will do next time i just want it a quick answer so i can order if needed. Since i wanted to finish head before this step back.

On tht subject i went ahead and started to use the one i had for my built. Took it apart and is great shape so i be using tht one.

I wont tell him tht till we go to the yard and he pays for mine. Make sure i get mine again. Lmao.

Plenty of us have done the swap that we can answer any questions you have. Club3g is barely helpful anymore.

I don't lurk here as much as I used to. I usually only check out certain threads and don't look for new ones anymore hence why I probably didn't see your post about it.

are you painting the bay? I highly suggest taking everything out and off that way you can get the firewall as well. Also if you have done so hit the whole bay with a red scotch brite pad before you lay down primer.

Looks like its coming along great man!
