    2002 Galant P1610 code

So I just picked up an 02 Galant for cheap because it wouldn't start. After hooking up a scan tool, it's showing a P1610 code. I swapped out the PCM, immobilizer ECU, and ignition tumbler. It still won't start. The green key light isn't flashing on the dash, so that's telling me that it's reading the key correctly (correct me if I'm wrong.) My only other thought would be something in the harness. All the connectors seem to be fine and well seated. Does it sound like maybe some wires in the harness are being chafed? Any other suggestions?

Check your fuses under the dash or engine bay. It usually is marked as IGN1 or ETC4 or some like this

PCM Battery Backup Circuit Malfunction - I dont have the diagrams for 8g, but its the power backup supply to ECU, TCU. It usually has a fuse in line. I cant tell you which pin on the 8g ECU it is.

Is this a 4 cyl? There's this ignition fail sensor on top of intake manifold. It is an often reason for the car not to start

    Isn't that the MAP sensor?

Thanks for the replies, yes, it is a 2.4. I had no idea about the ignition failure sensor. I'll try bypassing it tomorrow!

I just got to looking at it, and the wire colors don't match the colors in that thread. Pin 4 is green/yellow and pin 3 is brown/white, and neither of them are 12 gauge. This is the sensor that is mounted to the throttle body, right?

There is another sensor mounted to the intake manifold closer to the passenger side of the car, but it's only a 3 pin.

MKO, I just registered on Club 3G so I can see the picture you posted now. My car doesn't have that. If it does, than it is somewhere else in the engine bay and I can't find it.

Have you checked to see if your getting spark?
It could be a cam or crank sensor.

so I just looked this Code up on evoscan. P1610 Immobilizer system. You should try to deactivate the immobilizer and see if it will get spark

How do I do that? In my searches the methods of bypassing the immobilizer involve a second key or tuning.

The only way I know is tuning, and I don't know how to to that really
