Gear Shit lights not turning on

I bought my 2000 Galant ES a week ago. My Gear shift lights don't turn on and they don't appear on the dashboard. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Read up on this and see if you can check if it's the bulb. May want to run a volt meter to see if your getting power to double check it isn't further down the line.

They don't appear on the dashboard. The "lights" is one single bulb under the gear selector on the center console, I forget what size it is but it's pretty easy to find bulbs and replace, I think it's a 158 size, but I could be completely wrong

Mine doesn't light up all the time, I've found that if I tap on the light it comes back on so it is probably just a loose or bad connection.

I've just had to replace mine. The bulb size is 158 as Black8gV6 has stated.
