Installing new lifters.

My 03 Galant, 2.4 has noisy lifters; so I'm thinking of putting some new ones in. I'd just like to know if anyone else has installed new ones and whether or not this fixed their noisy lifters. Also; what did you use to hold the lifters in place so they won't fall of the rocker arm's while putting the shaft back in. One more question, when a lifter is bad, is it easily compressed? Or is it the other way around?
