Lurker no more! 2002 Galant Audio + Stance build

    Hello!

For a while now I've been lurking around, but never really made any build threads on any forums. As soon as I can, I'll put up a build thread for my 2002 Galant. I've had this car for 6 years now and have loved it since day 1. Not really conventional, but I turned my gilly into a bass car.

6 12" NVX subs on right around 9k watts of power. She does alright, 155.6dB :P

    Heres a few pics:

I'll try to get a build thread going in a few...

Ok Soooo I havent posted in a while... Might as well update what I've done. I interned for DB Designs, an extreme car audio install shop. We teamed together to make something ridiculous

TL:DR, I wasnt loud enough, got louder.

    Old wall was torn out:

After measurements, the plan is to run 12 12" subs. Yes, 12 12"s:

Cut the rear deck out to begin construction:

Cut the spare tire well out to build battery box:

Framed up battery box, and rerouted exhaust:

    Batteries: 4 XS Power D7500s

6 runs of Sky High 2/0 wire ran through the fender to front and rear fuse blocks

    Custom fuse block:

    Finished up battery box:

Started on the shell of the box:

The pretties waiting to go in. 12 12" NVX VCW subs:

Started working on the on the box cage:

    The sub baffles:

Finishing up the battery box and hooking up the amp:

    Trim panels and subs mounted!

Short there after... broke the first windshield. Managed to get 157.7 dB out of her on the first fire up. Little to no tuning on the box, just threw a port in to make it to the show.

    Completely destroyed the windshield brace:

Fixed that, 2 weeks later... Broke the roof at a show in NC, now at 158.4 dB

Removal and installation of new roof:

Removal of AC and Power steering to make way for 2 new alts:

Now to start on the doors. Plan was to run 6 8" speakers and 2 tweeters per door. Ended up fitting a horn in as well. DS18 Pro-x8.4mb speakers, DS18 Pro-tw310 tweets, DS18 horns

    Shocker... windshield 3 done...

ended up cutting it out to drive home

Installed a stripper pole to hopefully prevent more damage to the roof and windshields

Also racing seats to allow for the new doors to clear:

Next up is the dual alt bracket for the front:

Quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite a tight fit... but now, with the stock alt, I have a total of 810a of charging. During demoing, it keeps up fairly well and hold about 14.0-14.1V on music.

    Sitting pretty :)

    System equipment:

    12 NVX 12"s in a dB Designs 4th
    1 Vital power 700.1
    12 DS18 Pro- x8.4mb 8" mids
    1 DS18 FR6000.1
    4 DS18 Pro-tw310 Tweeters
    2 DS18 Pro horns
    2 DS18 EXL 2.4KA2s
    4 XSPOWER D7500s
    1 XSPOWER D3400
    2 Mechman Elite 370a Alts
    Sky high 2/0 wire

There is a MASSIVE update post. Went way harder with the audio build. For some reason the video posted before the other post (its pending moderator approval I think).

Yessir! When I first picked her up the front bumper was all screwed up. Found a paint matched 8GA front bumper, grill, fenders, headlights, and a few other parts for $80 lol. Personally like the 8GA bumper way more.
