    2003 galant help please!

My girlfriend has a 2003 mitsubishi galant and I can't keep it running. It sounds like it's sucking in way to much air. I found, on the front of the Throttle Body (looking straight in on engine bay) a hole where I can hear and feel the air being pulled in. I do not know what goes there... I think it may have been just a cover plate, because if I plug the hole with a rag the car starts and runs normal. I was just hoping someone could confirm this for me? I have pictures but I don't know how to post them in here

Looking at the engine from the front, is the hole on the intake tube to the right of the throttle body, or is it on the intake manifold to the left? Most likely, you're probably looking at the pcv hook ups that go to the valve cover.

Top view. Can't see the hole I'm talking about in this one but it points to where it is below.

I see what you're missing, but not sure what it is. You can try a junkyard and get another one, or replace the throttle body. You'll need to remove the throttle body to get to it either way. Couldn't find what it was called in the service manual.

Ok thanks that's a little help. It looks to just be a plug.... I found a plastic plug that was bigger than the hole and sealed it up with a gasket maker for now. It actually runs better than it had in awhile, but I don't plan on going far with it. Until I can buy a new throttle body.

Fast Idle Air Valve is what that is apparently. There is supposed to be a spring inside apparently.

I'm getting a little more info here and there. As of now I have it blocked off and it's running. Temporary solution until I can get the part or a completely new Throttle Body
