    Trunk spring

So when my car is parked facing up hill the trunk won't stay open. I looked at the springs and everything looks normal. I'm just wondering if all the 7gs had weak trunk springs. If they did, what have people done to counteract it? I'm not looking to have the deck lid fly up when I pull the release. I just want the trunk to stay open on a hill.

Does your car have a wing? I know on my 8g the wing weighs down the trunk, but with no wing it pops right up.

It doesn't have one. I'd like to but I feel like it would never stay open.

They make universal lift support kits on eBay, normally you can find one with a short enough piston to work on the trunk. Try one from a 99-04 mustang, they use their trunk shocks on Thunderbirds, and they have some hand-remover trunks.

Worn out PT Cruiser hatch strut.
It couldn't hold up the hatch on my sister's car, but it holds the trunk up on mine just fine.

Nice, and QUICK resolution. Lol. I don't think tgc has seen a thread posted and then resolved in that short of a period of time in forever. Did it have the brackets on it or did you have to remove them from the cruiser?

The replacements came with new ones. I'd actually been considering this for months. The other day the lid hit me in the back of the neck and I decided something had to change. It's always been so weak I only had to pull the latch a hair to make it close. Now it's got some force pushing it up. Next step is find a spoiler on the cheap.

I made a mistake. The PT Cruiser ones are way longer. I'm not sure what these came from. My best guess is a CTS.

Do they have a part number? I can tell you pretty quick. Measure your trunk width and I'll see what might fit. I think Accord/Civic low spoilers fit.
