Did you hook your shift linkage back up?

Yes I hooked everything back up the shiftlinkage is working it's just not engaging in any gear I can push the car while in drive park reverse

Put it in drive and rev it to about 4k on a flat surface and see if it grabs a little. It's probably a done transmission. V6 or 4 banger?

It's a 4 banger so either way I look at this pretty much I need to rebuild it or get a whole new 1

Hey, dumb question but is there fluid in it? No fluid = no solenoid function, therefore no shifting.
Although I am likely to agree with you, time for a five speed swap! ;)

When are you checking it? Because if there's not enough it won't work.
You should check the fluid when the car is at operating temperature in gear.

Did you remove the transmission as well as the engine? Or just replace the transmission? Any other symptoms?

Sounds like my situation. Make sure you didn't cross the return lines

Check that, for sure. Either way, put a manual in it!

Figured the problem out when the motor got re attached they sucked it together with the bolts and broke the transmission oil pump

What u mean right behind the torque converter

doh, ive ALMOST done that many times. just gotta have the right feel. the torque converter and oil pump go together with a single slotted gear (similar to a distributor). if the torque converter falls out of that and you dont put it back in correctly then the torque converter will be about a quarter of an inch further out and if you suck the trans in with the bell housing bolts it will crack the oil pump. hopefully they wont make that mistake again!
