Yes I hooked everything back up the shiftlinkage is working it's just not engaging in any gear I can push the car while in drive park reverse
Put it in drive and rev it to about 4k on a flat surface and see if it grabs a little. It's probably a done transmission. V6 or 4 banger?

It's a 4 banger so either way I look at this pretty much I need to rebuild it or get a whole new 1

Hey, dumb question but is there fluid in it? No fluid = no solenoid function, therefore no shifting.
Although I am likely to agree with you, time for a five speed swap! ;)

Yeah there is fluid in it

When are you checking it? Because if there's not enough it won't work.
You should check the fluid when the car is at operating temperature in gear.
Did you remove the transmission as well as the engine? Or just replace the transmission? Any other symptoms?

Yeah the car was on when checking it...And yes when I dropped the motor the transmission came with it

Sounds like my situation. Make sure you didn't cross the return lines

Check that, for sure. Either way, put a manual in it!

Alright will do didn't even think of that thanks for that and why should I swap it for a 5 speed

Better driving experience, more reliable, better economy, more fun to drive, faster, I can go on and on. Lol

Yeah I hear you but right now cant afford that looking for the cheapest fix possible right now
Figured the problem out when the motor got re attached they sucked it together with the bolts and broke the transmission oil pump
Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk
Where is that?
Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
What u mean right behind the torque converter
Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk
doh, ive ALMOST done that many times. just gotta have the right feel. the torque converter and oil pump go together with a single slotted gear (similar to a distributor). if the torque converter falls out of that and you dont put it back in correctly then the torque converter will be about a quarter of an inch further out and if you suck the trans in with the bell housing bolts it will crack the oil pump. hopefully they wont make that mistake again!
Question are Galant and eclipse transmissions interchangable
