    130 bucks for a resonator?

I went in and got a quote for 130 that includes labor for a gigantic resonator that pretty much takes up the length between catalytic and the rear crossmember...think it's overpriced or no?

Well, overpriced or not I'm extremely satisfied with the end result...except for my muffler tip but that's a small price to pay...it's not centered anymore. The sound still has the muscle quality to it, but the edgy-ness has been smoothed out...I love it. Instead of a growling or snarling it now roars...hopefully the headers won't worsen the quality...

I gaurantee you the headers will sound sweet. What Dave Thomas has done with these headers is incredible. My car literally growls, and has that V8 like rumble when it's idling. You won't be disappointed. Do you know what the resonator is filled with? The only issue you may have is the increased heat with the headers may wear it a little more quickly. Other than that, you should be set.

Nice...my car already rumbles with the downpipe (so much so that's why I decided on a resonator), can't wait to hear what headers will do 8) No idea what the resonator is made out of, all I know is that the inside looks like the grooves of a rifle barrel. In a perfect world I would want a completely silent car though...like the Lexus in Minority Report...so stealthy

I agree with pinoy....In the past I have personally just bought a long glasspack muffler to subtitute for the resonator. Basically all the resonator does is change the sound before it gets to the muffler. If you go without a resonator you get the classic raspy sound that so many ricers like. A 2 1/2 inch, 28-30 inch long glasspack will only cost about 30-50 dollars and do the same basic thing.

Hmm...wonder what a 2 mufflers sound like instead of a resonator and a muffler...oh well I'm happy though my car is silent

a resonator is a muffler. all a muffler does is resonate the sound or let me say it backwars...all a resonator does is muffle the sounds

Now that's interesting. Using a muffler as a resonator but NO! Yes the resonator is really nothing more than a muffler. The concept is exactly like a straight through muffler. However, it's really hard to find a muffler that size. Resonators are usually very long and narrow. If you look at catbacks from different companies that include the resonator, some really look like a muffler (short & fat) in the sense that it's not the normal long narrow one which always busts me up. You will not see that corner cutting with the better catbacks though.

Hey Rallifan, was this just a generic resonator that the muffler shop put on for you?

I believe so...it's big and long enough to fill up the gap between my cat and the rear crossmember, while taking up pretty much all the space around the heat shield.
