    1991 Galant 2.0 non-turbo oil burn

    Engine is burning oil can be seen in smoke out of tail pipe after car has been sitting over night or longer can also be seen sometime when shifting it is burning the oil slow need to put some oil in after a 100 miles or so. thanx for replies. God Bless

    sounds like the piston rings to me!!!!!! how many miles you pushing??? hmmm...rebuild or to swap is the question?!

    yup piston rings, common on our cars!!

    yeah i'm almost at 180k and have the same problem......

    Yep same here at 150k... it slowed/stopped for awhile when we replaced the head and gasket ,but, came back after a few break in miles. Nothing major just an occassional puff...

    actually, smoke upon startup and extended idling is going to be from worn valve seals / guides.
    very common.

    If you replace the head with a rebuilt , will it come back? how soon?
