    another fog light question

ive searched through some old posts, but i wonder if this can be done...

can you take the fog lights out of the headlight circut, and still be able to use the stock switch? or is that all controlled by the ecu? if thats the case then ill just rewire the whole damn thing with a new switch. if i have to put in a new switch is there a way i can wire it so the nifty fog light led on the gauge cluster still works?

let me get this str8, u want to run the fogs independantly instead of the headlights right>?

    try this http://rob_sullivan.tripod.com/instructions.html

how about with the parking lights...try this http://www.eclipseforums.org/showthread.ph...&threadid=29686

ok, i didnt feel like being bothered figuring out....anything, so i just wired up a new switch and relay, so my fogs are totally independent of anything.

now i have another question, why is it that running wires from the engine compartment to the inside of the cab is such a friggin pain in the ass on these cars? i had to run it through the damn fender like i did the power wire for my amp, along with the rest of the thousands of wires going through there. i know theres another set of wires going through the firewall, next to the steering collumn, i tried going through there but that was useless because i couldnt find where it came in under the dash, i prolly would have had to cut away some of the insulation inside to find it, and i wasnt about to do that. is there any easier way, without drilling another hole?

did u try that hole in the firewall for where the clutch linkage would be. i know all the 8g's still have that cutout for the clutch linkage. if you have trouble finding it just like stick a stick or something from the inside of the car thru that hole in the firewall and find it in the engine bay

i put the switch right under the stock one.

i used some steel wire to snake the other wires through, it just was a pain in the ass with all the others in there

This is where I put a switch for my neons, you could put the foglight switch there.

    HEY, u took my idea.

How did you get yours to be darker like that? Mine is brighter than the damn neon.

Guys the spot to get through the firewall is obvious (at least it was for me), here is a picture of my firewall and where i drilled a hole to put through my 4ga. power wire for my amp.

    Picture #1: Inside Engine Bay.

Thats where my hole is and thats where the switch to my strobes is located..

Is there a factory switch that could be installed in place of the fog light switch to control the new fog light wiring? ( something perfect fir so that all switches will be functional?

So Dave, you did in fact have to drill a hole, right? There isn't one already through except the one where the wiring harnesses go, which is more inpenetrable than a princess in a chastity belt. I think that's the question, at least it is with me.

Genuine experience carries a lot more credibility than the ability to answer a question.

yeah i drilled through her chastiy belt

Its easy and takes two seconds to do

Trying to go through the wire harness is impossible like seeing a lemming not jump off a cliff, its not going to happen.
