    torque question

I was working with the lifters on my G when I re-torqued the spring holder screws to 24Nm just as the shop manual stated and all the other screws to their proper torque specs. But when I started the engine the lifters was ticking more loudly than before!

My question is, can the shop manual torque specs be applied to an 8 year old engine? Or do I have to disregard what the manual states and just "feel" the tightening of the screws?

BTW its a brand new torque wrench.

    Thanks for the input/s.
