Need help on stock intake for 2002 galant!

hey, im pretty new with this forum, I came here a long time ago, but never signed up, i had a 97 galant, I recently got a 2002 galant and for now, I wanna do the do-it-yourself custom stock intake on it, i looked through the site n saw the do-it-yourself tutorials, but its different than my yr, the box is slightly different. I'm thinking of taking the bottom part of the box out and losening the clamp on the hose and flipping around the top part of the box like in the tutorial, i'm not sure if its safe to take out the bottom part of the intake box though :?: , if anyone knows if its ok or anything else please let me know, thanks a lot

you won't have any gains on the flip box mod, but you probably will see some in the butt dyno.

I think that the flip box by getting rid of the snorkel actually does improve HP a bit.
