It all depends on what kind of sound you want. What kinda muffler did you get?

If you want the most power get bigger piping and take out your resonators to have a full striaght through . thats what i have but the sound will be very loud but deep. sounds real nice well at least mine does.

the biggest you should go is 2.5 ... any more then that and you might start to lose hp, but if your putting turbo or nitrous then 3 is the size to go for...
    uhhhh...... Whats a 9g???

if you got the borla just for that aftermarket muffler look and/or some decent sound, then just put the muffler on and the muffler shop will weld it together and make it fit. if you want max. hp potential out of this thing, then just redo your exhaust with 2.5 piping.

If your question hasnt been answered yes the stock piping is 2.25 in. I also have a borla muffler on. I like how it sounds not to loud and aggressive when your rpms are climbing. It also doesnt get annoying at high speeds. Im glad I didnt get the piping changed out also coz I have a RPW header installed, Im pretty sure I woulda lost more low end torque if I had it changed to 2.5in. But then again, I probably woulda gained more mid-high end torque. So as for me I wouldnt change it unless you have lots of mods to support the loss of the backpressure.

well if the piping is still in good condition then youi won't have to dish out for new piping. it the piping is ready to go, might as well replace it while the exhaust shop is under there. most likely though, they would have to add a lil bit of piping to compensate the difference in size between your old and new muffler
