"CRANK SHAFT PULLEY"

ive just been told by my local garage that my crank shaft pulley needs replaced. can any one tell me if this common? ive told them to do the T/belt as well and also the T/belt adjuster.
my car is a 8G 98/99 2.0 4 cyl manual box.
