    What kind of engine?

Anyone know what kind of engine is the 9G using? I mean I know its 3.8L and MIVEC. But is it based on the 6G72 at all? Also anyone else as anxious as I'am to race the 9G's v6 against the 8G's v6?

BTW Are you using any type of FI? Cause if not then I really doubt you can beat a 8g v6.

Yes its 'loosely' based on the 6G72 meaning the basic block is similar but it has been adjusted for the increase in displacement.

Btw the engine code is 6G75 and 4G69

I can after seeing that weight-to-power ratio. Makes me want to cry. Mitsu took a step forward, and 2 steps back (quoted of some other user).

do you think that the 9G will be faster than the current 8Gs--hp in the GTS is like 230 vs 195 for GTZ--but the weight--damn--mitsu needs to get away from heavy ass cast iron blocks--try aluminum--that would be a good idea and save like 300-400 lbs...hmmm

sorry for the double post--but what I think would be really hot is if Mitsu stop punkin out and stop making me-to products barely matching the other Japanese manufactures (Honda/Nissan/Mazda (kinda)) and did something different like putting going on a limb--designing a car then putting a class leading engine in it. Up the anty alittle, kinda like what Nissan/Infiniti did with M45 (even though the car IMO is kinda plain looking) the engine--lawd--the engine is ridiculous 340 hp 333ft/lbs torque V8--makes those Lincoln LS V8 drivers sick to their stomach...

Then your talking about Mitsubishi making a car that will cost around $40,000 base. And only rich boys would get them.

I was at a dealership tonight and a salesman (if you believe him) said the 3.8 was the same engine that the Montero uses. It has a lot of torque built in at the low end of the rpm spectrum. I think he was saying 260lbs at around 1500 rpm's!!

So basically it sounds like it really launches but can it keep up that pace or does it fall flat??? It looked all right in person. I thought it was the new Diamante when I first saw it.

    Just an update.

    MotorWeek TV tested the GTS.

It ran a 15.3@93mph. Thats over a second faster than the 8G GTZ.
