    next best mod to turbo

hey, i am wondering if you don't have turbo but want something to give you a little extra hp hop, what would be the next best thing to a turbo?

Nitrous or lots of racing stickers.

Hmmmm, the shaved emblem mod gave me 35 whp! lol The problem with making cars fast is that it is very hard to do it cheap and very expensive to do it the right way.

If you want cheap and fast, get nitrous. Just don't blow yourself up. And a lot of people consider it "cheating." And it's only on when you push the magic button. And to get the most power out of it, it takes some work.
You could go all-motor, but on a Galant that doesn't strike me as a good idea. All-motor would mean higher compression, cams, head work, i/h/e, etc etc etc...and would mean a lot of downtime for your car, and an innaccesible powerband...one that you would have to rev the crap out of to get to your power. And you still wouldn't be making that much...
If you're looking for just a little bit more power, just get i/h/e and maybe P&P the head, and get a fuel pressure regulator, then get it tuned. You should be making some decent numbers, just nothing compared to a turbo set up.
With a cheap and easy motor set up on your car, for an I-4 I would say about 160-165hp with a little less torque, and probably break into the 15's in the quarter. V-6 will prolly be a little faster, but more expensive.
But...save up for the turbo. Seriously.

after the i/h/e, P&P, FPR, bigger injectors, piggybacks, etc... you can always multiply the number of throttle bodies installed to the intake,... a short runner quad-throttle, with good cams, elevated comp. ratio, good exhaust, a capable stand-alone ECU, and all of the mods in the beginning of this post should give you about 300+ HP,.... but nothing beats the ol forced induction sensation, and price,.... oh,... and of course you can always add a turbo to the mods above to multiply the HP figure,... just make sure you lowered the comp. ratio before you add some boost

well you can just boost that set up above quite as easily as you make it sound. That would be a good all motor set up, but it would be deadly on boost. Cam profiles are much different between turbo and all motor cars. Most individual throttle bodies (at least all of them that I have seen) don't allow for an intake manifold to be attached to them. So good luck boosting that. Building up an all-motor car will, in the end, be more expensive and less beneficial than building a turbo car. I could go into it now, but I won't since I don't have much time...gotta be in class in 5 minutes!

why add an efficient horsepower mod when you can just slap on a shitload of stickers like i did. i'm takin' out ferraris left and right.

but the best bang for your buck is nitrous. after you install it and work out the few problems you'll run into, its pretty cheap to keep it going, its fun, and satisfying to get that boost on the fly.

but he needs to know what he's doing with nitrous...I mean yeah, it'll be fun, until you melt something
Just have a talk with HeadAche on here and he should tell you all about nitrous. Nitrous is not for Newbies.

hehe,.. off course it'll be quite different (the cam profile) but if a person can do all those N/A mods ...plus adding FI to it,.. ehem,... what's a set of cams will set him/her back,... oh, btw,... one of my buddy bought his quad-throttle from RPW (aussie), and they provide him, a carbon intake-plenum that fits like a glove on top of those TBs,.. RPW said that he can run boost safely to that plenum up-to 7 psi,... but being a naughty boy... 10+ psi on some holeshots is still considered o.k for him,.. ,.. and he's using 272 cams that was designated for his prev. N/A setup,... one other thing that i've forgotten to include, forged internals, exotic-material parts,.. oh, and gapless rings,.. oh, well,.. if you guys went this far,.. it'll be offered by the builder somewhere in the build process anyway,..

    nothings free...

probably a good idea to get a new exhuast, from the header all the way back... but you could hit up junk yards and try and find an intact DSM factory turbo engine

Or you could try sticking the 8g VR4 engine that we have here in the UK.............. sorry only kidding, cost a fortune!!

Do you guys get the VR4 type V or is just JDM and Imports into the UK??
All the 'performance' Galants here have the TWIN turbo 2.5 V6 lumps........like this....... 8) 8)

well theres a local car w/ all of the above short of more throttle bodies in the manifold and he sold his because he couldnt break 200whp (and he went through countless setups) ...i HIGHLY doubt u can get anywhere near 300...not saying its impossible but i HIGHLY dobut it
and no i dont have any dyno sheets or pics of his car (3rd gen eclipse) but he made about 197 whp if im not mistaken (which is a nice jump from stock i might add, i/h/e +a 75 shot will BARELY get u there on a 5spd 4cyl eclipse)

no we dont get 8g vr4's here (not domestic anyway...u can have one imported tho if u wish to go through the "motions") also that motor wouldnt fit his car w/ out costly mods -and the motor isnt THAT bad $ wise

if i had a 7g it would have a 4g63 or 64/63t hybrid in it...screw a turbo kit and if u do all of the stuff we're talkin about you'll spend way more then u would on a early evo/dsm motor swap
