do you mean a 63 head...as in the DOHC swap??? If so then your tranny will be fine. If you're planning to turbo then I'd swap it out to a 5 speed, but that's just my humble opinion.

to answer the original question: 0 HP

the automatic transmissions on 7Gs are pure shit. if it hasn't gone out, it WILL down the road. i really wish i would've known this 2 years ago, i would've done nothing but invest time into researching and saving up for a 5spd swap. the 5spd mitsubishi transmissions are great, but the automatic ones are about as usefull as a knife in a shoot out.

    yeah.....if you drive like grandma.

put it to you like this. My tranny went out earlier this year, so I had it replaced. But the tranny that's in there now is tarting to fuk up. So I've made up my mind, I've got my 5 speed and will hopefully have it swapped out by spring.

Without any work being done to the transmission I would say at about 180-200hp it would start having problems. Definitely would not hold up to 230hp "with no problems"

My sugestions is to do a 5spd swap, either with a galant transmission or better yet 2g gst transmission. Dont even bother with the bs level ten rebuild, waste of money...

ok so you HAVE a 5spd, 5spds are way more stronger than the autos. The 5spd tranny can handle a 4g63t + more. You will most likely have to get a new clutch but other than that the tranny is probably good for at least 220whp(pulling #s outta my arse but I think it would be good for it)

I got a 1g head on stock tranny 60k on the tranny holds up fine. Turbo would be another story, that would defintly call for a new tranny. What seth posted sounds about right.
