Some questions on using the A/C

If I turn the AC on and then put the temperature on a little bit high, will that cause the compressor to stop compressing -- hence save a little gas?

Or will nothing happen except the car blows a little more hot air into the vents.
I have been wondering about that for many different cars.

    THanks

There will be no change on the compressor duty cycle regardless of where you set the temp knob. The temp is controlled via the blend mechanics which adds hot air to the cool air from the A/C to raise to the warmer setting... nope, you won't save gas.
