Hi, folks!
My tranny ('94 ES) died

The Reverse is OK, on L it switches on with a delay and a bump, then OK; on D & 2 it seems to switch on, but when gassing on revolutions go up without moving but jerks.

So I have 2 main questions:

1) Is it torque convertor, or what?

2) As I live in Moscow (it's in Russia, not Idaho), so it's easier and cheaper for me to make a swap for a tranny from a Japanese car (a good tranny with 49k mileage costs around $300-400).
As far as I know E-56A were equipped with either F4A23-2 UPQ3 or F4A33-1 UPQ1 (mine is F4A23-2). The Japs have a lot such trannies (especially F4A33-1), but not UPQ3 (theirs are UNP2, UNQ, etc.).
So what does this suffix mean? Type of control unit, software version or what? Can I install the right tranny but with wrong suffix on my car without changing control unit? What other adjustments might be needed?

Thanks for all inputs!
Regards,
Victor
